SUMMARY:A proposal for Peace – A Free Buddhist talk
DESCRIPTION:Watching the news can sometimes leave us feeling overwhelm
 ed and powerless by the scale of the problems that humanity currently 
 faces.  This free talk aims to offer practical solutions and a vision
  of hope that can empower all people.   The talk is organised by SGI-
 UK, a lay Buddhist Organisation, and is open to all regardless of reli
 gious background.  The talk aims to address three of the most crucial
  issues that exist in the world today, and will be given by Robert Ha
 rrap the General Director of SGI-UK since December 2013. Before that 
 he spent 16 years as a barrister in chambers in London's Inner Temple.
  \n The talk will communicate the peace proposal put forward to the U
 nited Nations by the eminent Buddhist philosopher Daisaku Ikeda.   
 Daisaku Ikeda is a peace builder, a prolific writer, poet, educator a
 nd founder of a number of cultural, educational and peace research ins
 titutions around the world. This proposal will be submitted to the Un
 ited Nations this year. Daisaku Ikeda has submitted a peace proposal t
 o the UN every year since 1983 and received over 300 honorary doctorat
 es and many international honours and awards in recognition of his tir
 eless work for peace.   The talk is aimed at anyone who has an intere
 st in these issues, and will be followed by a question and answer sess
 ion.   SGI-UK is a lay Buddhist organisation based on the teachings
  of Nichiren Daishonin that teaches individual empowerment and works f
