SUMMARY:ATLANTICUS
DESCRIPTION:Doors open 7pm. Music starts at 8pm.\nATLANTICUS is a Brit
ish-American musical partnership bringing together the powerfully dist
inct musical personalities of US saxophonist Peter Fraize and UK organ
ist Terry Seabrook, trumpeter Jack Kendon, and drummer Milo Fell, deli
vering a dynamic new entry to the rich transatlantic heritage of jazz.
\nATLANTICUS draws from the storied tradition of the great Hammond org
an groups, with a post-modern sound echoing the ground-breaking organ
quartet of Larry Young’s Unity album and contemporary artists like L
arry Goldings. The group’s repertoire is comprised of mostly origina
l music spanning a broad stylistic spectrum of Hard Bop blowouts, moda
 l explorations, funk and odd-metered grooves, Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, a
nd the Blues. Their engaging compositions, sometimes intricate, always
grooving, honor the history while pushing at the boundaries of Organ
Jazz. Instant Connection, Dynamic Performances.\nTerry Seabrook (organ
) has long been considered one of the top UK keyboardists and bandlead
ers. He began his musical life on the violin before switching to piano
, becoming enchanted with jazz after hearing Oscar Peterson.\nPeter Fr
aize (saxophone) has been a commanding presence on the Washington, DC
scene for over 30 years, where he is known for his impassioned and hig
h-energy playing, intricate and melodic composing, and his \"no-bounda
ries\" sensibility.\nJack Kendon (trumpet) followed his father, renown
ed bassist Adrian Kendon, into the family business and has himself bec
ome a prominent force in the UK jazz world. Jack is the co-founder and
director of New Generation Jazz which helps emerging artists build au
diences and introduces young people to the vital, living tradition of
jazz music.\nMilo Fell (drums) is one of the most sought-after drummer
s in UK Jazz today. Originally inspired by Ringo Starr and Animal from
the Muppets, it was hearing Omar Hakim with Weather Report that drew
him firmly into jazz.\nKaramel - 4 Coburg Road, London N22 6UJ. The Ka
ramel vegan kitchen will be serving food until 9.30pm. Email karamel8
