SUMMARY:Cycle Enfield Council Meeting Agenda item 7
DESCRIPTION:Cycle Enfield – The debate\nReserve the date - We Need Y
 our Support\nThursday 28th January 2016 starting at 7pm\nCivic Centre
 , Silver Street, Enfield EN1 3XA\n
Here’s why Over the last few months, FERAA
and other action groups have been working extremely hard on the campai
gn to save our major roads and Town Centre from the Cycle Enfield sche
me. We all want to persuade Enfield Council to develop a local cycle s
afety scheme that is good for cyclists AND residents. The current plan
s will tear up a large part of our major roads and impose heavy traffi
c restrictions that will diminish the quality of life for thousands. T
he cycle scheme will lie largely unused.\nWe have held numerous reside
nts’ meetings and made representations to the Council but it has ref
used to enter into meaningful discussions. This Council has a fixed id
ea of what will benefit its residents and will not take their views in
to account.\nGiven the cost of making a mistake it must be worth it to
pause and hold meaningful talks but our elected representatives are s
till denying us this route.\nSo the Opposition Party has tabled a deba
te before the full Council on the wisdom of this scheme on - Thursday
28th January 2016, 7pm at the Civic Centre.\nFree parking in the ar
ea from 6.30pm.\nEveryone will be affected by Cycle Enfield. Do come a
nd hear the arguments and lend us your support for a better scheme. To
get the Council to listen we need a strong turnout on the 28th to mak
e clear the demands of the overwhelming majority of residents.\nWe hop
e to see you there.\nPeter Gibbs\nChairman\n \nNOTE that this was ori
ginally advertised \"in good faith\" on Bowes and Bounds as a resident
s meeting It would appear that the invitation is to actually to listen
to the debate on agenda item 7 of the Council meeting \nOpposition%2
