DESCRIPTION:Highly-acclaimed children’s author and Haringey resident
Karen McCombie (external link) has written over 90 children’s boo

ting of several of her books, from best-selling series ‘Ally’s Wo
rld’ in the early 2000s to 2017’s ’The Pearl in the Attic’, wh
ich both feature Alexandra Palace.\nFor this talk, as part of Women's
History Month, Karen will focus on the writing of her WW2 evacuee nove
l ‘Catching Falling Stars’, partly set in Wood Green, including de
tails of her invaluable research at Haringey Archive at Bruce Castle.\
nAs this year marks 80 years since the start of the Second World War a
nd the beginning of evacuation of children from wartime threats in Lon
don, do come and hear about familiar memories connected with your own
or your families’ experiences.\nSigned copies of the book ‘Catchi
ng Falling Stars’ will be available to buy on the night.\nDoors open
at 7pm.\nRefreshments available.\nKindly supported by the Friends of
