SUMMARY:Everything, but the Ants
DESCRIPTION:\n\nThe Friends of Alexandra Park have monthly talks in th
e Winter usually on wild life themes. On Wednesday, 20th February, Har
ingey's new Conservation Officer, Ed Santry will be giving a talk. This
coming Wednesday there will be an illustrated talk on the wild life -
mostly the insect life of an area of the Park that the Friends have b
een actively managing..... This is the email sent out to our members,
but all are welcome...TalkEverything but the ants -insects of the Butt
 erfly Meadow\n    Wednesday  January 23rd  7.30pm for 8.00pm
This illustrated talk will show you a little of why the Butterfly Mead
ow is special.  You have probably seen references in our emails and n
ewsletters to ‘the Butterfly Meadow’ which is the focus of our con
servation work in the Park. Our aim is to improve the diversity of pla
nts, and therefore insects, in the meadow. We have been working there
for around 7 years, and over that time  Stephen Middleton has been ta
king pictures of the insect life seen there. \nWhile ant hills are th
e distinctive feature of the meadow, the ants will be left for another
talk, but Stephen will show us his marvellous pictures of around 20 b
utterflies, plus moths, beetles and dragonflies that inhabit this area
. He will also illustrate the rather unusual child-rearing practices o
f a bug! \nDo join us to see a little of the natural world which live
s, often  unnoticed, in the park. \nJoin us for refreshments from 7:
30pm, with the talk starting at 8pm prompt.      Space is limited,
so please email  allyparkn10@gmail.com  to book places and we will r
eply, letting you know  the venue.\n\n\nFor more information visit ht
