DESCRIPTION:The Step Gallery’s next exhibition features enchanting i
 llustrations by Hannah Carding.\nJoin us at the exhibition launch part
 y on Thursday 23rd May, 7pm.\nJust come along, peruse the work and hav
 e a chat with the artists. Our delicious house wine is only £3 a glas
 s or £12 a bottle throughout the night. Everyone is welcome!\nHannah 
 Carding always wanted to be a mermaid, but seeing that this would be i
 mpossible, has settled for drawing stories and teaching.\nHannah creat
 es her pictures using many different techniques from simple line drawi
 ngs to etchings, monoprints and paintings, or creating embroideries an
 d storybooks.\nShe grew up in the heart of Dorset and is very much a l
 over of rural places – swimming in them, cycling through them or jus
 t meandering. In fact, moving through places is often when ideas and i
 maginings for works of art come to mind.\nHannah’s work often depict
 s creatures, great or small, or little characters that are part of a n
 arrative that can be a fusion of funny or sad, serious or frivolous. S
 he tries to create worlds that are familiar by the emotions they conve
 y, but with a quiet sense of the unusual about them.\nHannah currently
  lives and works in London as a freelance illustrator artist and as an
  educator for various arts organisations. Sharing with others what she
  knows and does gives her great pleasure.\nExhibition dates: 21st May 
 to 23rd June\nPractical Workshop: Hannah will also be running a practi
