  To Change The World’.\nThe film draws on the visual archive of past
  events in the multicultural history of Trinidad and its Diaspora to t
 ell for the first time the life-story of John La Rose (1927-2006).\nDi
 rected by Trinidadian photographer and film-maker Horace Ové and edit
 ed by Peter Stern, La Rose discusses his involvement in workers' right
 s movements in Trinidad in the 1940s and 1950s leading up to independe
 nce from the British. A labour activist, publisher and poet, La Rose s
 ettled in London, becoming an active member of Britain’s Black commu
 nity in the early 1960s, founding New Beacon Books in Stroud Green and
  The Caribbean Artists Movement.\nThrough music and the arts of carniv
 al, steel-pan and calypso, La Rose leads the viewer through the intrin
 sic links between the arts and social transformation.\nDoors open at 1
