 tin tabernacles' as well as those curious to learn about these iron ch
 urches will enjoy this talk. Illustrations include Bowes Park's Shafte
 sbury Hall, The growth of the population together with an increased in
 terest in religion in the nineteenth century resulted in an increased 
 demand for churches. In order to keep up with demand it was necessary 
 to construct temporary churches. Iron churches were popular as tempora
 ry churches; they were cheap and quick to build. There were thousands 
 of them all over the country of which less than 100 survive. In this t
 alk Marianne Zierau will explore the history of iron churches as well 
 as the history of how they were sold.\nURC Hall, cnr Ferme Park Rd/Wes
