DESCRIPTION:2018 marks the centenary of the Representation of the Peop
 le Act 1918 - allowing women over the age of 30 the right to vote. Thr
 ough two workshops (the first on 14th October, the next on 21st Octobe
 r), artists from Collective Exchange reflect on the Suffrage Movement 
 and changing attitudes towards gender inequality since. They will kick
 -start the topic by investigating language, specifically gender biased
  language, to begin an exploration of women’s place in society.\nWor
 kshop participants will create ‘statement badges’, using simple co
 llage techniques, layering text and images from newspapers (past and p
 resent) and social media. You will explore how unconscious gender bias
  phrases are used daily, and how an individual can highlight these thr
 ough the process of making.\nSpace is limited; booking is essential. T
