DESCRIPTION:2018 marks the centenary of the Representation of the Peop
 le Act 1918 - allowing women over the age of 30 the right to vote. Thr
 ough two workshops (on 14th and 21st October), artists from Collective
  Exchange reflect on the Suffrage Movement and changing attitudes towa
 rds gender inequality since. They will kick-start the topic by investi
 gating language, specifically gender biased language, to begin an expl
 oration of women’s place in society.\nWorkshop participants will cre
 ate ‘statement badges’, using simple collage techniques, layering 
 text and images from newspapers (past and present) and social media. Y
 ou will explore how unconscious gender bias phrases are used daily, an
 d how an individual can highlight these through the process of making.
