SUMMARY:Haringey Clean Air free Webinar - this Saturday - All Welcome!
DESCRIPTION:From Haringey Clean Air Group:\nHaringey Clean Air Group i
s following up on last year’s People’s Assembly with a free Webina
r on monitoring London and Haringey’s polluted air, and why we need
tougher legislation to protect our health.  \nDo join the event to he
ar speakers from Imperial College, the British Lung Foundation/Asthma
UK, and Client Earth tell us more about hidden pollutants, and what we
  can do.\nBook via Eventbrite: https://bit.ly/3pjsXHN\nThe Pollution Y
ou’ve NEVER Heard Of !\nPM2.5 \nIt’s in our air, our rivers and o
ceans, in our lungs, our blood, and even in our organs!\nWHAT is it?\n
It’s tiny polluting particles or droplets that we breathe in every
day - outdoors, and inside our homes, buildings and schools.\n HOW do
es it affect us?\n PM2.5 is linked to heart and lung diseases, cancer
, type 2 diabetes, low fertility, dementia, and in children to memory
and intellectual impairment, asthma and reduced lung growth.\n Recent
research indicates that increased exposure to PM2.5 is also linked to
greater Covid infection rates and more deaths.\n WHERE does it come
from?\n In London, the main sources of these pollutants are roads - v
ehicle emissions, and tyre and brake wear - as well as cooking, wood-b
urning stoves, and construction.\nWHO is affected?\nAll of us!  Did y
ou know that 99% of Londoners live in areas that exceed World Health O
rganisation limits for clean air?  Scientists now believe there are N
O safe levels for this microscopic pollutant.\nMost affected are the e
lderly, those who live and work in polluted areas, and our children wh
ose bodies are still growing.\nWHAT can we do?\nJoin our free online e
vent to hear more about this ‘hidden’ threat.\nBook via Eventbrite
