DESCRIPTION:Charles Dickens (1812 – 1870) lived through a period of 
 enormous change in postal communication. He was a prolific letter-writ
 er, sending over 14,000 letters to more than 2,500 different correspon
 dents.\nLetters and the postal system also occur significantly in his 
 fiction and journalism, as will be demonstrated in this illustrated ta
 lk by Dr Tony Williams.\nDr Williams is a frequent speaker on Dickens.
  From 2015 – 2017 he was President of the International Dickens Fell
 owship and is Associate Editor of the Fellowships journal, The Dickens
 ian. He is a Senior Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Buck
 ingham and an Honorary Academic Advisor to the Charles Dickens Museum 
 in London.\nDoors open at 7.30pm for the sale of refreshments and publ
 ications and close at 8pm. The main doors have to be closed at that ti
 me for security reasons, so anyone arriving after then will be unable
