DESCRIPTION:Marina Alam will be performing sufi songs and will be perf
 orming with guitarist Dhiren Raichurato create a Sufi-Jazz collaborati
 on.\nMarina Ahmad Alam was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh. In Bangladesh sh
 e studied under the tutelage of Ustad Phul Mohammed Khan and Shri Bari
 n Majumdar. She continued her training at Dhaka Music College and then
  studied at Gandharva Maha Vidyalaya in New Delhi, India. Marina is a 
 senior disciple of Padmabhushan Pandit Jasraj-ji, receiving training i
 n the Mewati Gharana for over two decades. She regularly accompanies P
 andit Jasraj-ji, performing alongside him worldwide. Marina is current
 ly also training under the guidance of Ms. Manik Bhide in the Jaipur G
 harana. Marina has a wide repertoire and also performs thumris, ghazal
 s, bhajans, and sacred music, mostly of the Sufi tradition. She has re
 cently been experimenting with more contemporary styles such as jazz-f
 usion, which uniquely combines the depth of the Indian classical style
  with the free-flowing motion of jazz.\nDhiren Raichura is a Guitarist
 , Multi-instrumentalist, Record Producer, Engineer, Arranger, and Stud
 io Owner. Dhiren has played with many of the great names in the Indian
  and Pakistani music Industry, including the world renowned Ustad Nusr
 at Fateh Ali Khan. Dhiren worked as a session musician for the BBC in 
 the pioneering Indian cultural program Nayi Zindagi Naya Jeevan in the
  early 1980’s and has composed music for numerous television product
 ions. Amongst these TV programmes a few stand out: Into Music for BBC 
 2, Chalte Chalte for Granada Television, Panchayat for Zee TV, and sco
 ring the documentary film Badalte Rishte for Healthwise Productions wh
 ich went to receive an award. He also recorded the legendary classical
  vocalist Kishori Amonkar at the Studio Beats. Enjoying the busy life 
 of the ‘live’ musician, Dhiren also has produced 2 solo albums of 
 devotional songs entitled Shukriyada and Tera Naam Ek Sahaara in which
  he is the vocal artist. Dhiren has composed and performed for Geri Ha
 lewell in the album Schizophonic and the Mercury Award winning Talvin 
 Singh’s OK. He is adept at both North and South Indian music and man
 y western forms, such as jazz and funk.\nDoors open at 7pm, Music star
