SUMMARY:Join us and WalkTogether on 7 July
DESCRIPTION:Ten years ago, terrorists tried to divide us. Today a broa
d coalition of people, from all faiths and backgrounds, is calling on
the public to come together and show that they failed.\nPlease join us
and walk the last stop of your journey on 7 July, and show your suppo
rt by sharing a photo using #WalkTogether.\n7 July 2005 was just anoth
er Thursday morning and Londoners were on their way to work. But at te
n to nine, terrorists detonated four bombs at Kings Cross, Aldgate, Ed
gware Road and Tavistock Square. 52 people lost their lives and over 7
70 were injured.\nThe victims were all of us: young and old, black and
white, different faiths and none.\nThe tenth anniversary is a day to
remember those whose lives were lost or changed forever. It's also an
important moment for London and for Britain - a chance to stand up for
the country we all want to share.\nOn that terrible day 10 years ago,
London was shocked but it didn't grind to a halt. That evening, with
public transport shut down, thousands of people walked home. But we we
re not divided - we walked together.\nOn Tuesday 7 July, we are asking
people to walk together once again - to get off the bus, train or tub
e one stop early and walk, in a quiet moment of unity and remembrance
of those who lost their lives.\n#WalkTogether is a new initiative supp
orted by Faiths Forum for London, Hope Not Hate, Islamic Society of Br
itain, Faith Matters, Trust for London, The Big Iftar, British Humanis
t Association, St John Ambulance, New Horizons in British Islam, City
Sikhs, Inspire, JW3 Jewish Community Centre London, Hindu Council UK,
Armed Forces Muslim Forum and British Future. Our media partners the
Evening Standard announced the initiative in the paper yesterday and w
ill feature it further over the coming week.\nMayor of London Boris Jo
hnson has also voiced his support for #WalkTogether, together with may
oral candidates Zac Goldsmith, Tessa Jowell, Syed Kamall, Sadiq Khan,
David Lammy and Caroline Pidgeon.\nWe hope it will provide a way for p
eople all over the country to be actively involved in remembering the
lives lost on 7/7 - and also present a message of hope and unity acros
s people of different backgrounds, as Britain reflects on the ten year
s since 7/7.\nThe decade that has followed has been an anxious one for
Britain. But none of us wants fear and hate to win.\nThe power of #Wa
lkTogether will come from people all over Britain taking part. You can
walk at any time of day, wherever you are, with friends and colleague
s or on your own. Please show your support by sharing a picture of you
 r walk using the #WalkTogether hashtag.\nJoin us and #WalkTogether.\nS
