 Jazz Programmes at the Royal Academy of Music. One of the UK's leading
  jazz figures, he has performed, taught, and given masterclasses aroun
 d the world. His outstanding contribution to jazz education has been r
 ecognised with the Parliamentary Jazz Award for Education (2013), Hono
 rary Membership of the Royal Academy of Music (2015), and a University
  of London Professorship (2022).\nAs a performer, Smart is in demand a
 cross generations, touring and recording with his own ensembles while 
 collaborating with internationally renowned artists including George R
 ussell, Dave Holland, Ingrid Jensen, Mike Gibbs, and the late Kenny Wh
 eeler, with whom he enjoyed a long and distinguished musical partnersh
 ip. His acclaimed recordings include Remembering Nick Drake, Rememberi
 ng Louis Armstrong, and Tower Casa.\nA passionate and influential educ
