 ing a novel, you have to give it a shape.’ Blake Morrison\nThis cour
 se is for people who have done a previous course at Collage Writing Ro
 om with Giovanna, or who are some way into a life writing project.\n 
 Over 6 weeks, we will explore how to shape and structure our writing i
 n a compelling and novelistic way. We will learn ways to hook our read
 ers into our story, keep them turning the pages, charm and alarm them 
 with our characters and reveal fascinating, relatable truths about our
  lives. We will investigate what is meant by a strong voice in memoir 
 and understand how stylistic devices like dialogue, scene building, se
 tting description, and suspense creates a vivid world the reader can d
 isappear inside. As well as reading extracts from published memoirists
 , nominated students will have the chance to workshop extracts of thei
 r writing each week. All levels welcome.\nWe would love to welcome you
  to our writing community where you can progress your work, share idea
 s with other writers, and focus on your writing away from distractions
