DESCRIPTION:For Women's History Month, in Haringey we celebrate with M
 argaret Burr a forgotten local heroine - Priscilla Wakefield (1751-185
 2) of Tottenham. A well-connected Quaker, she was famous in her lifeti
 me, and was actively engaged in social action and the alleviation of p
 overty in Tottenham.\nAs an author, she wrote 17 books for children on
  a range of subjects, including natural science. She also wrote a book
  on feminism and feminist economics in 1798, published by a radical pu
 blisher. Her philanthropic activities focused in particular on improvi
 ng the lives of women and children.\nReferred to today as the 'Mother 
 of Microfinance', in addition to writing and publishing, Priscilla est
 ablished local charities and a school, as well as founding the first S
