DESCRIPTION:The first prom is on Sunday 5th July. Hear two sets by Nor
 th London Brass who play a range of traditional and contemporary music
 . North London Brass includes locals, professional musicians and membe
 rs of HM Armed Forces Bands in its ranks. There's nothing quite like t
 he sound of a British brass band: it's timeless and part of our nation
 al identity. Perfect to give a traditional start on the traditional ba

 brass.co.uk \nThe two sets will be interspaced with performances of ca
 jon and Brazilian samba drumming from Palmers Green’s own BishBashBo
 sh.\nThe cajon originates in Peru, where it was originally played by A
 frican slaves, who were forbidden to play their traditional percussion
  instruments. In the 1970’s it was taken up by Spanish flamenco musi
 cians, but it has recently experienced a boom in popularity with acous
 tic musicians worldwide.\nThe group play samba reggae – a style of s
 amba created in the north-eastern Brazilian city of Salvador da Bahia 
 in the 1970’s as an alternative to the dominance of the samba from R
 io de Janeiro and to reflect the African heritage of the majority of t
 he city’s population. Instead of the frenetic pace of Rio samba, thi
 s style, in keeping with its name, was played at a slower, more laid-b
