DESCRIPTION:Join us for our free lunchtime talk with Ian Betts, Senio
 r Specialist (Building Materials) from MOLA (Museum of London A
 rchaeology).\nIan will show us the beautiful examples of various desig
 ns and types of tin-glazed (Delftware) used in London houses over 400 
 years. Dating from the mid-15th to early 19th century, these will incl
 ude floor tiles imported from Valencia and Seville in Spain, Antwerp i
 n Belgium and the Netherlands, as well as examples produced in London 
 and Liverpool, made to decorate walls in these large houses. His talk 
 will be illustrated by the many finds from the Museum of London collec
 tions. He will examine how such tiles were used and the buildings in w
 hich they can still be found, including a house in Highgate and exampl
 es (now in Bruce Castle Museum) originating from a fire-surround in Di
 al House, Tottenham.\nIan is the author of the book 'Tin-glazed Tiles 
 from London' by Ian M. Betts and Rosemary J. Weinstein (Museum of Lond
