Hi

just an FYI really. I had the catalytic converter stolen from my car (parked outside my flat in Manor road). According to the AA guy that arrived (i initially thought it was my exhaust) said its quite rife as he has had up for 4 calls a day and its being done in broad daylight - they just lack up the car and cut the wire. So for everyone out there please be vigilant and i hope it doesn't happen to anyone else.

In recent weeks there have been a rising number of sightings of young chaps racing on motor scooters around the Whittington/Myddleton/Thorold/Palmerston roads area. They have been seen going fast the wrong way down Myddleton, and racing on the pavement, yesterday one was on a scooter modified for trick riding - he had no helmet, and did wheelies down the road, and was with another chap with a L on the back of his red scooter.
They look like teenagers. Their Mums would be horrified. It would be bad of they hurt someone, or themselves. I reported them yesterday to the Police, but if anyone can read the registration numbers of their bikes please do report them, and if you see them being stupid and bad. Let us hope they get ticked off before anything ugly happens..
Statement from Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism officertag:bowesandbounds.org,2016-03-22:6278630:Topic:1104782016-03-22T21:17:29.861ZAdministratorhttps://bowesandbounds.org/profile/Administrator

Our thoughts are with the people of Brussels following this morning’s horrific attacks.

As a precaution forces across the UK have increased policing presence at key locations, including transport hubs, to protect the public and provide reassurance. This is not in relation to any specific information or intelligence.

In London specifically, the Metropolitan Police Service has mobilised additional officers, who will carry out highly visible patrols at key locations around the Capital including the transport network. The number of officers deployed will be regularly assessed. These additional officers are deployed as part of reassurance measures. The police presence across London and the rest of the UK is constantly under review

We are in close liaison with the Belgium authorities and will continue to monitor the situation. The threat to the UK from international terrorism remains at severe as it has been since August 2014, meaning an attack is highly likely.

We urge the public and businesses to be alert but not alarmed and report anything suspicious to the confidential Anti-Terrorist Hotline on 0800 789 321. In an emergency always call 999.
Knife crime in wood greentag:bowesandbounds.org,2015-11-23:6278630:Topic:1042942015-11-23T17:20:26.952Zamanda wilkeshttps://bowesandbounds.org/profile/amandawilkes

There were a couple of chaps (I assume it was two men) with their hoods up standing by the fountain, which was covered in broken beer bottles (which I know realise they were using for target practice).

As we passed the two people and got about 50m away I heard a pop and felt something like a bee sting on the back of my left arm. I carried on a for a while before stopping to check the back of my arm under a street light.

At the risk of sounding a little Monty Python about it, it is only a flesh wound with broken skin and a bruise.

I reported it to the police who were brilliant - I felt embarrassed to be reporting something so minor but they took it very seriously and said that they had sent a unit to Ally Pally and also they would patrol more to try to catch the perpetrators.

I guess this post is more an information post than anything else and a suggestion that when it's dark, runners, walkers, dog walkers, etc stick to the well lit parts of Ally Pally.
New Premiese licence for Alcohol: 111 Green Lanes Piazza Cafe - Please opposetag:bowesandbounds.org,2015-09-10:6278630:Topic:1013212015-09-10T15:41:46.125ZRichard McKeeverhttps://bowesandbounds.org/profile/3hwxkqhdde8gc

This afternoon I was walking past the "Piazza Cafe" 111 Green Lanes, when I spotted a New Premises Licence application in the window. Considering that this might be something neighbours and the wider community might be interested in, I attempted to take a photograph of it on my mobile phone.

Immediately a young man came running from inside the premises, stood in front of me and prevented me taking a photograph, I explained it was a public notice from Enfield Council and again attempted to take a photograph. He raised his hands in front of me and stood very close in a threatening manner shouting and telling me to leave. He was shortly joined by a younger man and then a woman who said she was the waitress. I was startled to find three people confronting me and obstructing me from reading a public consultation notice, I felt threatened. The man said he was calling his boss to come down, I felt intimidated and concerned that another person was coming so I left the scene.

If this is the behaviour of the staff in the premises during a public consultation - I believe it is clear that they are not suitable people to operate a licensed bar.

There is a history of drug dealing at this cafe (See MPS Enfield report here) Plus there has been significant anti-social behaviour in this area already reported on this site last October and since. This includes the gangs of men who sit at the tables in front leering and abusing women and girls as they pass by; The rowdy barbecues in the back alleyway - where alcohol is served without a licence; The suspicious parade of smart cars and people who come and leave via the back alley most evenings and the ongoing association with the homeless and aggressive vagrants who are frequently seen in and around the shopfront drinking alcohol and urinating / exposing themselves in the alley behind.

The application states that the place is open to the public - which it most definitely and clearly is not.

Personally I am opposed to the granting of this licence. I am posting this here to ensure as many people as possible are aware of the application - and the behaviour of those who seek to operate licenced premises and would encourage you to oppose it too.

The application is available to view on the Enfield Council website here: but there is no obvious mechanism on that page to make a comment. Perhaps you could alert your local councillors and the local police too.
Metropolitan Police investigate Bounds Green Murdertag:bowesandbounds.org,2015-08-31:6278630:Topic:1007062015-08-31T12:22:49.581ZAdministratorhttps://bowesandbounds.org/profile/Administrator

Last night, around 11.30pm on Palmerston Road, someone broke into our campervan. They picked the lock somehow and climbed in through the tailgate. Luckily, I was in the living room and heard something which made me look out the window. I noticed someone moving around in the back of the van and ran outside to investigate in a fit of rage and panic. I asked him in a raised voice what he was doing......to which he replied, he was looking for somewhere to sleep. I won't go into detail as to the remainder of the exchange but he swiftly moved on.

He was about 5'8"/10", caucasian, stocky, mid 30's london accent, wearing jeans and dark blue hooded jacket, round face.

Of course I wish I had taken a photo of him but I was so enraged and just wanted to make sure no damage was done or anything stolen.

So, I just want to give people heads up to make sure your Vans are locked up and keep an eye out for any unscrupulous characters, especially fitting the above description.

Thanks,

Just to let you know that the Councils Anti Social Behaviour Team distributed this leaflet on the street to try and encourage the reporting of anti social behaviour. Its got lots of useful numbers and information on it and the hope is that it will encourage residents .

Please do continue to report anything you see. The more information the Police and ASBAT team have the better.
