Thank you for your replies both on the initial thread, and also privately to my email address (roberto.vacca@met.police.uk).

I believe it's important to share with you the following: There is clearly an ongoing issue with drug dealing and drug taking within Myddleton Road, and its adjoining roads. Similarly I have had isloated reports from other roads within a 500 metre radius from there.

So far, the intelligence received has been good. However, I need it to keep coming through. I am currently building a response to this issue and need to establish who the main protagonists are.

Please bear with me, I will resolve this issue as soon as I can.

Kind regards,

Dear All,

I am currently the Sergeant for the Bounds Green Safer neighbourhoods Police Team. I believe that it would be beneficial to have a forum thread dedicated to policing issues, and invite you to share any concerns you have about your local area with me here. I cannot promise an immediate response, however I will endeavour to get back to you as soon as I can.

A few updates for you:

1) We are currently in the process of recruiting a new Dedicated Ward Officer after PC Laura Coates left our team to become a Safer Schools officer.

2) I am currently running a knife crime prevention operation throughout Haringey Borough- Operation Treebeard. Please search #mpstreebeard from next week for updates. The next phase of the operation will be a knife amnesty, with weapons bins being placed outside of Wood Green and Tottenham Police Stations.

3) I have been made aware of issues surrounding both drink/drug related ASB on Myddleton Road and potential drug dealing within Myddleton Road and its' environs. It is important to communicate the fact that patrols (both overt and covert) have been conducted in the area every day that we have been working. I plan to increase these patrols and positively deal with offenders. I aim to resolve this issue for you expeditiously. You may contact me directly and in confidence via email: roberto.vacca@met.police.uk, should you have any information to share.

4) I have been asked to find within my ward a female volunteer to assist in promotion/recruitment of female police officers, who are still under represented within the Metropolitan Police Service. The role would be unpaid, however it would be a fantastic opportunity for someone who wishes to develop their CV or enhance a UCAS application. Please email me at roberto.vacca@met.police.uk should this be of interest to you.

Good evening to you all,

Key Tube stations, including Kings Cross, Brixton and Camden, will have a permanent presence while mobile teams will travel the length of the Northern, Piccadilly, Central, Victoria and Jubilee lines.

However, the latest crime figures released by Transport for London show a worrying increase in reported sexual and violent offences in the last year, even as overall crime fell by 8.3 per cent on the network.

Many passengers will be concerned that crimes which are often fuelled by alcohol are proving difficult to tackle and fear they could get even worse when the Tube opens all night.

TfL attributed the rise in reported sexual offences in part to a Metropolitan Police initiative to raise public awareness of unwanted sexual behaviour and encourage victims to come forward.

On the Tube and DLR, there was a 32.2 per cent increase with 567 incidents reported in 2014/15, up from 429 the year before

The TfL figures showed that the number of sexual crimes across the whole transport network rose from 972 reported incidents in 2013/14 to 1,309 in 2014/15, a 34.7 per cent increase.

This includes 684 incidents on the buses, 45 on the London Overground and 13 on tramlink.

There was also a 15.4 per cent rise in violent offences, up from 7,239 to 8,357 over the same period.

The majority of these - 5,801 - took place on the buses but there were also 2,255 incidents on the Tube and DLR, an 8.6 per cent increase.

However, there were falls in crime across all other categories, including criminal damage, robbery and theft, while the numbers of passengers rose rapidly.

TfL said senior British Transport Police officers had spoken to other all-night metro networks across the world which had provided “overwhelming” feedback that crime was no greater through the night than at any other time of the day.

Night Tube police will be backed up by a network of BTP rapid response vehicles across London which will ensure officers will be ready to attend any incident quickly.

The 100 officers will be joined on the beat by PCSOs and will be backed up by 13,000 CCTV cameras across the network.

Mike Brown, Managing Director of London Underground, said: “The night Tube services are set to transform night time journeys for millions of people across London, boosting jobs and helping maintain London’s status as a vibrant and exciting place to live, work and visit.

We have had a few reports over the last couple of weeks of incidents of burglary and street robbery. Incidents like these become news, because thankfully they are comparatively rare in our neighbourhood. There are a number of statistics which provide a bit of context.

A recent report from MoneySavingSupermarket.Com has been widely re-published - it researches insurance claims to find the postcodes which make the most claims for burglary - Manchester's M21 district was the most burgled and, somewhat surprisingly, Muswell Hill N10 was third on the list with N2 - Fortis Green and East Finchley - coming in at fifth.

Report author Kevin Pratt said: ''... just because somewhere is named a claim hotspot, it doesn't actually mean the area in question is not a nice place to live.

''Thieves often target areas with wealthy residents and desirable properties where the rewards are potentially greater or quieter areas where they think there is less risk of being caught red-handed.''

House breaking is only one type of crime - on our Crime and Policing Page on this site we have links to the Metropolitan Police Crime map which displays data on how many crimes of which type are being committed in specific areas. The aggregate crime figures are displayed each month.

Having a look at Bowes Ward and Bounds Green Ward shows that crime in our local areas is average for London - and this is true right across Enfield and Haringey boroughs. Overall crime in the UK has been falling in recent years - The Office of National Statistics show a drop of 7% last year.

However If a number of incidents happen together in one area over a short time - it may have an impact on that month's figure - but only because the underlying figure for criminal incidents is fairly low - so a handful of incidents will skew the figures. It will be interesting to track our local statistics over forthcoming months.

Whilst crime overall may be falling - the "fear of crime" remains high. Many people consistently overestimate the number and severity of crimes that happen in their neighbourhood. Academic research into the popular perception that things appear worse than they actually are shows this can lead to negative psychological outcomes depression and anxiety.

Being the victim of crime - street robbery, theft, or burglary is horrific and damaging to each individual victim, but thankfully our neighbourhood is no worse than any other part of the Capital in this regard. Whilst we should remain vigilant, look out for our neighbours and report anything suspicious, we should also celebrate our relatively peaceful area without living in fear.

Just to let everyone know my next door neighbours house has been broken into. It happened about 6.30 this evening. From what I can gather it appears to be two men on a moped/ motorbike. One breaks in, while the other waits outside.

Feel so sorry for my lovely neighbour, this is a horrible thing to happen. Just posting this so we can all be more cautious, and hopefully no else gets broken into.
