Haringey's parks are crucial spaces for all local communities. They need to be properly run but are suffering from a serious lack of funding, staffing and maintenance.

We are calling on the Council to ensure

safe, attractive, well-managed, well-maintained and well-protected public green spaces for all

dedicated staffing for each significant park, and a well-staffed parks service

no inappropriate commercial activities which have a detrimental impact or exclude residents from using their local parks

Why is this important?
All Haringey residents - of all ages and interests - benefit from access to public green spaces for their local community and neighbourhood. But they must be well-run and in good condition in order to provide the many benefits all residents deserve. The parks staff do their best but don't have the numbers or resources to manage properly.

We need 2,200* people who live, work or study in Haringey to sign up online with a local postcode (your home, workplace or school) by the end of February in order to trigger a debate at the council meeting in March. Please also ask all the local people you know! Please sign up online

Hi there everyone. New to the area and I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on the name Natal Road. Where does it come from? Are we talking natal, as in ante-natal classes, or Natal province in South Africa, or what? Thanks and hello Bounds Green!

A group of us decided to meet up to initally discuss the Tewkesbury Terrace green outside the Ranelagh, with particular focus on improving the green, limiting litter and fly tipping and creating a safe play area for children. I know there are a few residents associations and I am sure there already is activity in this area, so it would be great to hear from you if you are able to enlighten me or if you simply would like to get involved. Whilst discussing this on another forum, it became apparent that people would like to address other issues such as anti-social behaviour, moped crime and hate crime amongst other things. Perhaps we have the opportunity to join forces? We have nearly 100 members on our facebook group which you can find here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/boundsgreencommunityaction/

We are holding a meeting this Wednesday 17 May at 8pm in the Ranelagh. This is an opportunity for everyone to have their say, for us to learn about existing work in this area and establish exactly what this group will do and how we will operate. Do we for example, want to have a safe children's playground, regular litter picking, fences around our green or an exercise area for adults? Are there issues in our area such as gangs on scooters or hate crime that we need to unite against and lobby for more police support?

I have also set up an email account, if you would like to make me aware of existing activity or if you want to get invovled, but cannot attend on Wednesday. boundsgreencommunityaction@gmail.com

Will be great to have your contribution and as I say, so let us know if there already is a group looking after this as the last thing I want to do is step on toes!
Wood Green consultation extended to 28th April 2017tag:bowesandbounds.org,2017-04-05:6278630:Topic:1222252017-04-05T11:01:19.305ZPublic Voicehttps://bowesandbounds.org/profile/PublicVoice

Has anyone else noticed the homeless man living on a bench on the green by the Ranelagh pub? He's been there for ages and I'm just wondering if there is anything we can do as a community to help? Has anyone called any charities or spoken to him? I know it's warm now, but I worry so much that one day the cold will get him.

On Londonist we're renaming all the tube stations with feasible alternatives. I've suggested Spouters Corner for Wood Green but I can't think of a good one for Bounds Green.
