Hi Dani. A good idea to start this group (I only just noticed it here!). There is a Bowes Park Art Group which does occasional outings to various places, usually, I believe, on a sunday, but its good to have a group on the site here. We seem to have quite a lot of people in the area who are interested in art, so perhaps this will get others to join here and get a local community together.

Hi,
I've recently started painting, studied many years ago at art school but went on to do Graphics. I enjoy very relaxed, casual poses, watercolour pencils, oils & acrylics.
Look forward to seeing other local art in the area, open house here we come!!
Hopefully link above will lead you to my blog.

Hallo - could I please join? Never been to art school, much as I wanted to, but took a degree in Art History and History and have been a frustrated artist all my life. Took and evening class in Illustration at Central St Martins many years ago as that seems my strong point. I'll post some drawings when I can, am currently taking a level 1 BTec in ceramics and enjoying playing with clay.
Hi all - I think at the moment we're mainly getting to know who's here in the area, encouraging everyone to join and share some art online. Personally, I'm very interested in traditional representational drawing and painting, and I've been involved for about a decade with various online art forum communities.
One of my interests is materials, and I've been developing some oil painting mediums with friends in the US and in Devon. One is a texturing medium used to achieve rather Rembrandt-esque paint-handling, which we've called CKM medium - this has been used for my US friend David Kassan's BP Portrait entries (he got 3rd place last year with his portrait of his mother (here), and he's being exhibited again this year with a portrait of a Holocaust survivor).
I'm also formulating a lead-free "lead white substitute" which has handling characteristics very close to lead white:
Two different variants - a very stiff one which holds peaks, and a softer stringier variant.
Hi Diana - I'm not sure there is any "process" as such :) - chatting to Gabriela before xmas, we thought it might be fun to do some local painting outdoors, as the weather improves in spring, but we've not started doing that yet. What sort of painting are you interested in? Abstract? Contemporary figurative? Traditional? All of these?
We really need to have some sort of get-together for the group.

Just to start things off, here's a pencil study I did of the arm of one of the sculptures down at the V&A:

Thanks Richard (?) for posting onto the facebook group. Hoping we can get more interest here. Anybody else got some artworks they'd like to share? :)
