Hello,

I am writing to you to introduce the North London Branch of Make Votes Matter who as you are probably aware is campaigning for a fairer voting system.

This may be of interest to some people amongst your membership. You will know how unfair the system is, with a quarter of the electorate voting for UKIP, The LibDems or the Greens, sharing 1 1/2% of the seats at the 2015 election.

In other elections the proportion has been greater. This has resulted in a great Democratic Deficit. In some areas this has affected even the larger parties.  We are a non-partypolitical organisation whose only discussions during meetings is about PR. There is very little discussion on Party Politics although it is made known any allegiances.

We have to achieve this by co-operation, it is in the interests of all the smaller parties. We range across the political spectrum to people like myself who just want to be able to vote for my own MP.  Our branch of MVM meets on the second Tuesday of each month at the Friends Meeting House, Church Crescent, Muswell Hill, N10 3NE in the appropriately titled Rainbow Room at 6.30pm.  An interesting & productive meeting was held recently with Catherine West, the MP for Hornsey & Wood Green.

We have had our stalls or Roadshow in Crouch End & Wood Green over the last month.

If anyone is in the area please do come and talk to us at our next meeting on the 13th June 2017 at 6.30pm.

The group is run on an informal basis and there is a small collection for the room, between £.2.00 to £5.00 with any balance going to funds.
