A Community Network for Bowes Park and Bounds Green
A Lantern Parade and community carol singing event will mark the start of Christmas in Bowes Park on Sunday November 30th.
Local songstress Melanie Masson will lead the singing and actor Neil Morrissey, who also lives locally, will turn on the Christmas Lights in Myddleton Road Community Garden.
Do come along on Sunday: There will be a children’s lantern making workshop at The Hub, 128 Myddleton Road from 3pm.
The parade starts at Bowes Park station at 4pm with Melanie Masson leading the singing as we proceed to Myddleton Road Community Garden.
Neil Morrissey will switch on the Christmas lights at 4:30pm, followed by mulled wine, mince pies and community carols.
After the event - why not stick around and spend some time with friends and neighbours in Myddleton Roads bars and cafes.
The Lantern Parade has been organised by the “We Love Myddleton Road” community campaign who have been working to improve the area and this event marks the end the end of a year that has seen much positive change in Myddleton Road. New businesses have opened; several of the Edwardian shop fronts in this conservation area are currently undergoing refurbishment with the support of English Heritage; in the spring a residents “Cash Mob” saw locals commit to “shop local” supporting local independent traders and a popular street market is now well established with a special Christmas Craft market on December 7th just one week after the Lantern Parade.
We Love Myddleton Road will continue working over the forthcoming year - to support this work enter the Christmas Hamper Raffle, a great opportunity to win prizes donated from the independent traders in Myddleton Road.
