Lurlene McIntosh came to the UK from Jamaica in the 1960s and has lived in Bowes Park since.
She has fond memories of shopping in the area, saying “you could fill your basket for £3.50 on Myddleton Road and get everything you wanted.”
Lurlene speaks beautifully about how Myddleton Road used to look, with baskets hanging from the shop fronts, very few cars, and beautifully kept streets. She has also had a very close relationship with St. Michael at Bowes church, worshiping there and seeing her children grow up with it, so it means a lot to her.
