A Community Network for Bowes Park and Bounds Green
It has been brought to my attention( via another local website )that there have been several burglaries within Bounds Green recently. It reports there were at least six in York road, Natal Road and Warwick Road N11 on Saturday during the day. Please be aware and report any suspicious activity, vans etc. Please be vigilant.

Hi Irena, thanks for posting, can you give details of where you found this info?
Streetlife
Richmond Road was also targeted recently. They were in and out in literally a few minutes during the day. Suggestions from the police afterwards included using timed lights, putting the radio on, using a "fake tv" light, get an alarm system, put up real or "lookalike" cctv cameras and warning signs - essentially, make your property unattractive to an opportunist. Also asking friends/family to check on your place while you are away.
Dreadful, it may well be the same team responsible. There are a lot of rental properties which can attract undesirables which does not help
Sadly I have to disagree. I am aware of several rental properties where the turn over of tenants is considerable and the calibre undesirable
Sorry Richard, I have to disagree too. I was a right rotten burgular when I first moved to London and was in my renting phase. I literally burgled houses morning noon and night and the only time I wasn't burgling was when I got hungry and went off to Morrison's to shoplift for me tea. Luckily, I managed to get a foot on the property ladder and the burgling stopped just like that but I am still partial to a bit of shop lifting now and again.
Disappointing to see that you have both clearly misinterpreted my comments.
There were break-ins also on Westbury Road between 8-11pm on Saturday 3rd Jan and one on Goring Road before the end of last month. Bounds Green may indeed being targeted by an organized gang...
Apart from the usual deterrent (alarms, proximity lighting, CCTV etc), I've been reading that a good deterrent is the use of SmartWater. It makes it near impossible for the thieves to resell the stolen goods, as they are linked permanently to the owner's address (unique DNA-like code). The dye (only visible under UV light) is almost impossible to remove also any trace links the thief to the crime.
Although good in the individual home in isolation, the use of SmartWater is particularly effective when used in clusters or indeed whole neighborhoods, as it will put burglars off the whole area.
(I've just purchased a homeowners pack at half the usual cost (£25) with the code "L25JI25NW".)
It's a shame that we all have to go these extra steps, but a suite of defenses may make us all feel safer...
