Has anyone had experience of objecting to plans to redevelop a site right next door to them? No 8 Sidney Rd currently an electrical wholesaler has applied to turn shop into 3 dwellings for up to 9 people! this includes building a small house on the corner plot which is basically like having a house right in our garden. It seems it's just outside the conservation area but am worried as need to find out if it's going before a committee or just down to a planning officer.

Hi Emma

This application is a delegated decision and will not normally be referred to a Planning Committee. Consultation on the Planning Application closes on 03rd June 2016 and is described as "Conversion of mixed use (C3 and A1) property to 3x flats (C3) as part of application HGY/2016/1364 CLICK HERE. BUT see the Layout Drawings which derscribes the development as Proposed conversion of shop to 4no maisonettes ,  CLICK HERE

I have attached the proposed elevations and internal layouts in pdf files

The items to watch for would be the re-instatement of the front garden; provision of amenity space, waste disposal, development methodology The single storey extension appears to project extensively northwards (overdevelopment?) and could lead to loss of light in adjoining habitable rooms.

Adjoining neighbours should ask to be consulted under the terms of the Party Wall Act 1996 guidance

Great and helpful explanation, Donald.

You can object online, Emma, if you follow the links Donald provided. If you want to be walked through it, I can give you a "live demo" if you come to my shop at No. 90 Myddleton Road.

Yes Donald is a star!

Thanks Emma...are you free any time on Friday afternoon from 3ish onwards?

I can do it tomorrow until 7 and then I'm away.... Don't think it is my shop-sitting sister-in-law's forte, unfortunately.

Am at work until 7pm over at London Bridge..am guessing you won't be at your shop at 9.30am.. (too early?) I go to the gym but then have to head off to work..could stretch it until 10 possibly?

My objection is now viewable on the site and I noticed they've extended the consultation period until 17 June.

So if you haven't managed to negotiate the site by this weekend, my offer still stands! (I'm back on Saturday).

Hi Emma...sorry been full on at work. Have started a lengthy letter/attachment for the objections. Feeling quite stressed about it but would be v grateful for your attention, yes please. When are you free?

hey Emma are you free later today after 6pm (tues) or tomorrow at all?

Yes - I'm in the shop today until 7.

Thanks Donald. I have looked at the plans recently - it is for 2 x flats and 1 x house so that description of 4 maisonettes is wrong! The extension to the separate 'house' is two storey and yes I believe it to be extremely overdeveloped plus there are mature trees supporting wildlife along the boundary where they propose to extend this upwards - it's like them building a house in my garden as there appears to be no boundary fence just the 'wall' of the dwelling - is this even legal? I am the adjoining neighbour so the party wall issue affects me as they plan kitchen/bathroom right next to my bedroom wall and are going into the loft space too.

Since the planning officer made date errors on the original letter and has still not sent an amended update in over 10 days I am very anxious that 'she' should be making this decision alone - her tone by return of email was rude and dismissive and utterly unapologetic.

Hi Emma

We are trying to formulate an objection to a nearby planning proposal too- Haringey has a little bit online about how to object and what to object about.  Its quite useful!   Good luck!
