Not sure if anyone can help but I am tracing my family history and my grandfather was the licensed publican of the pub in 1904.

I wondered if anyone had any ideas how i could find out any further info.  Perhaps there is a site that lists publicans of a particular pub.

Perhaps if anyone has any ideas they could let me know.

Many thanks

Jenny

Hi Jenny,

This site lists previous publicans throughout England, perhaps your grandfather is listed here?

Good luck with your tracing.

All the best,

Pete

Hi Jenny

I did have a quick flick through my copy of Albert Pinching's Wood Green Past - there is a section on pubs, but only a fleeting reference to the Ranelagh.

We've had a couple of responses to your enquiry via Twitter: @EnfieldWorkEx suggested the same site that Pete referenced below - it does look like a fascinating resource to trawl through!

Lesley Ramm @HornseyN8 has suggested the Hornsey Historical Society may have information or photographs. You could try emailing archivist@hornseyhistorical.org.UK

Hi Jenny

I see you've had some very good replies, hope they are helpful (I think I'll have a look at some of them myself).  It's probably a silly question, as you are researching your family history, but I suppose you have checked the 1901 and 1911 census records?  Just that I'll have a look for you, if you're not already on the necessary sites.

Best wishes

kathie
