If you have more apples and pears and plums on your trees than you can use - please don't waste them... even the windfalls, so long as they are not rotten. 

Put them outside your door/gate in a box and let passers-by take some for pies and chutneys.
 
And if you DO have a pear tree that produces more fruit than you can eat or store.... if you give some to me then I could make wonderful Pear Chutney and give you a jar or two in return.
