The weekend Guardian has a long-running feature called "Lets move to..." which profiles towns and areas across the UK. See www.guardian.co.uk/money/series/letsmoveto

It's interesting to take the temperature of an area by reading the comments from local people who live those towns, about transport, shops and fun places to hang out... some positive and some negative.

Next weekend the Guardian is focusing on Bounds Green and the current edition invites people to tell them about favourite haunts, a pet hate or advice for newcomers. So... Lets tell them what it's like round here!

You can e-mail lets.move@theguardian.com
or by mail to Let's Move, Guardian Weekend, 119 Farringdon Road, London EC1R 3ER.

Good spot, Richard!  I will definitely be emailing the Guardian to extol the virtues of Bounds Green; our excellent transport links and proximity to central London, The Ranelagh, The Step, local parks, playgrounds and schools, great shopping in Wood Green and Muswell Hill close by, our short walk to local landmark Ally Pally, the diversity, tolerance, vibrancy and activism of our community...I'm sure others can add inspiration, after all, Bounds Green is underrated!

So will I - having lived here for almost thirty years I am passionate about this area!  Well done for spotting this Richard.  And thanks Matthew for some useful prompts.  Liz

Btw thats the old Guardian address; its now Guardian News and Media, Kings Place, York Way, N1

Yes good point... their website still has the old address for postal contributions. Presumably all ideas now come via e-mail!
Wasn't in todays guardian! Anyone know when it will be?

The magazine gets printed a week or so in advance. From memory it might be next weekend but I think more likely to be the week after.

Thanks Mat - yes by following the sequence of previous items on the website it looks like probably the week after next.

I just realised I missed the deadline, but here is my list anyway.

The Step, La Fatisa, Vrisaki, Myddleton Road and their quarterly market, the Ranelagh, the New River, a ping-pong table, Community gardens, playground, amazing transport links, Alexandra Palace, Broomfield Park (close by), grocery shops (you'll never starve) friendly neighbours and a fab community. Erm, have I left anything out?

Hi what is La Fatsia?

Hi Phoebe,

Fatisa is the restuarant on the corner of Green Lanes and Earlham Grove - perhaps more Wood Green than Bounds Green? It's just opposite the Police Station and inside Woodside Park. It is a great place, good quality food and excellent service.

More Info on their website: http://www.fatisa.co.uk/

At last ... the Guardian article is published online today and in the paper tomorrow. Our little neighbourhood is well represented with some good comments from local folk - "ordinary" (but in a good way!) ... and The Step gets an honorable mention "Proper Bohemian"

You can still pitch in with comments in the online discussion.

Just read the glowing review....I also had sent an e-mail to The Guardian and my additions (not printed) were the plump and juicy blackberry bushes you get around this area late summer; the pretty cycle rides you can go on...cycle across the top of Broomfield Park and you have a lovely view of London's skyline; Wood Green Indoor market for top quality produce at cheaper prices than the supermarkets.
