This is terrible news - thanks for letting us all know. There was a burglary on Wakefield Road at about 5pm on the 14th Jan and there were reports of guys on a moped/motorbike at the time too. They apparently forced a front living room window - same guys maybe?
There was also a break in in Russell Road about 3 weeks ago at about 4pm.
We got a letter through the door from the Police this morning about a burglary on Natal Road, think this about this one or a new one?
I think the fact that the police are posting letters about specific incidents demonstrates just how rare these burglaries are.
Burlary is horrific for those who are the victims and this is timely reminder for us all to keep a look out - our Crime and Policing page has information about our Safer Neighbourhoods team and Victim Support services.
This post from a couple of weeks ago examines the local crime statistics.
Hey Rich,
It's a new one, my partner has said it was on the 12th "around 4pm" the Police notice states. I have noticed a break in our garden fence which looks like has happened when someone has climbed over it. Luckily for us, we have a dog who doesn't appreciate new people at the best of times with us there, never-mind someone attempting to get in while we're out. I've just ordered a couple IP CCTV cameras, they'll send me a text someone/something activates them and I login and live view. So fingers crossed these will prevent people trying to get in; not that we have anything worth while of the effort but still would rather keep people out.
Hi Suellen,
Quite an easy install, you could do it yourself. Max, £50 per camera if on a budget and a wifi network.
Happy to help if you are looking to put 1/2 in!
