Fortismere Community Symphony Orchestra concert in Muswell Hill this Saturday

Looking forward to the Fortismere Community Symphony Orchestra concert coming up this Saturday in Muswell Hill - a programme of thrilling, toe-tapping music perfect for those who aren't into football (there's a certain match happening earlier) or if you want to come on from the match for something very different!

The programme is Ligeti, Khachaturian, Tchaikovsky and Borodin. While some of those names might not be so familiar, you will definitely recognise some of the tunes!

Khachaturian's Waltz from Masquerade was covered by the rock band Sky in 1982 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdgbFEvMpxo

And Borodin's Polovtsian Dances inspired the song ‘Stranger in Paradise’ which first appeared in the musical Kismet https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-F7_DXDImo0 and was then covered by Tony Bennett https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzA8gwfJr9I.

Don’t miss out on hearing the original music live!  The concert is an extra-special occasion because alongside Ashok Klouda performing the Tchaikovsky will be the actual maker of the cello, Tibor Semmelweiss, who will be playing violin in the orchestra at the same time. A very special occasion for both luthier and cellist!

Tickets are £13 online from www.fortismeremusiccentre.co.uk or £16 on the door.
