This summer there is so much going on - London Olympics - Euro 2012 football tournament and The Queen's Diamond Jubilee.  Lots of excuses for days off work - getting together with your neighbours and enjoying the Long awaited "barbecue summer".

So a little flurry of excitement rippled through the local twitter-sphere yesterday when it was revealed that Haringey council have waived the fees for Street parties ...

In the "My Bowes Park" local history interviews produced last year Brian Moore speaks about how he attended a Street Party in Myddleton Road to celebrate the Queens Coronation... (follow this link to hear the recorded interview) So how about a street party this summer? ... Perhaps in another 60 years our local kids can tell their grandchildren all about it.

In these times of austerity even those of us without royalist inclinations might find a reason to get out on the streets and have a party like it's 1952!

What a brilliant idea! Last time I went to a street party I was dressed as a flower fairy for Charles & Di's wedding.

Great idea, please let me know if there's anything I can do to help!

Any further news on this? I think it's a great idea !

Hi Debbie

I think lots of people agree it would be a good idea ... but I do not think anyone has actually begun organising an event ... yet!
