Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on the present Pinkham Way situation?

The Enfield Advertiser suggests that all rubbish will now go to the Edmonton site but I find this hard to believe.  A couple of years ago Enfield Councillors were opposed to increased waste management at Edmonton, they didn't think it fair that Edmonton take on more rubbish.

It is by no means clear that Edmonton has the capacity, and what residents nearby think of a major expansion there.

In theory though, dustcarts from the boroughs will either go directly to Edmonton, or to "concentration" sites, where the loads from several dustcarts are compacted, and put on to bigger lorries, which then head for Edmonton.

There is already one such site, further south in Islington.

Possibly Brent Cross will be converted to that arrangement, instead of having its rubbish loaded on to trains for landfill. Those lorries will run on the North Circular and Pinkham Way.

It seems possible that Pinkham Way could well be another, depending on exactly what assurance about the site has been given. (Do they say "no residual waste processing"? What about "waste transfer"?) But Pinkham Way may be too close to Edmonton to make transfer into larger lorries worthwhile.

Very informative, thanks.
