Welcome to the latest new business to open on Myddleton Road. Giants Gym opened this week, at 127-129.

I went to meet Onur Coskuner who is running the gym to find out more.

Originally a textiles workshop and more recently the Tabernacle of David, a community church, the building at 127-129 Myddleton Road has been either vacant or underused for some time.

Now following the overhaul and rebuilding it's a new clean and fresh space equipped with the latest state-of the-art Gym equipment, (Techno Gym, Cybex etc). The space has been designed to ensure a large number and great variety of equipment is available ensuring visitors will always be able to access one of the many machines. The rear of the building has been rebuilt with male and female changing rooms, showers and a sauna in each.

Onur is grateful for the positive support that local people offered during the planning application process and has taken on board concerns about noise by soundproofing the property. He says he is delighted with the community interest in his new business - and even opened the doors a couple of days earlier than planned as people were tapping on the door eager to come in and join! As a result the finishing touches are still taking place around the early joined-up members.

New members are assured of a friendly and professional service, with staff offering support for inexperienced gym goers as well as those who are more familiar with the range of exercise equipment.  Membership is on a "Pay-as-you-go" model so there is no signing on fee or lengthy contract - and discounts are available for those who commit to longer term sign ups.

The Gym will be open seven days a week Monday to Friday from 7am to 10pm and 8am to 8pm at the weekend, so it will add significantly to the general 'footfall' on the street which will hopefully give additional custom to a number of existing businesses.
