Gary Willcox Qrt. - this band will play some standard , American Songbook material , along with Music Written by Drummers (Victor Lewis, Bill Stewart, Paul Motian) The band has some well known and in demand musicians from UK Jazz scene - George Crowley on saxophone, Dave Whitford on double bass, Tim Lapthorn on piano and Gary Willcox on drums. THE EVENT 🎲 A whole afternoon playing board/card games - as usual, we will have a selection of our favourites, and you're welcome to bring any you want to play. We're always happy to teach rules to newcomers, and the hosts can introduce you to other attendees if you like.

ATTENDING 🤓 Everyone is welcome, no matter their level of “geekiness” - quick & easy games will be on offer as well as more complex ones. Feel free to join us at any time, new games will start as people arrive. (And you can leave at any time as well, although we hope you’ll have fun and want to stay until the end!)

THE FOOD 🍔🍕 Don't miss Kath & Roger's legendary (and huge!) Sunday roast with all the trimmings. (Other options are available on their daily menu; but seriously, that roast 🤤)

THE VENUE We have the entire of Karamel available for our event, including the theatre at the back if necessary, and they are kindly hosting us for free. Please make sure to show your support by ordering some of their delicious food and drinks.

Karamel is a very short walk from Wood Green Tube station (Piccadilly Line). The entrance to the venue is step-free and there is a wheelchair-accessible toilet. Karamel is dog-friendly, so feel free to bring your furry friends if they'll enjoy it.

A unique opportunity to celebrate women working in jazz both behind and in front of the camera. Inspirational moments in jazz captured by some of the incredible female photographers leading the way in jazz photography. Exhibiting legends such as Geri Allen, Abbey Lincoln, Alice Coltrane, Nina Simone to contemporary artists including Lakecia Benjamin, Nubya Garcia and Brandee Younger, there has never been an exhibition like this. Legendary and award-winning photographers from South Africa, New York, Poland and the United Kingdom, this breathtaking exhibition features the work of Val Wilmer, Monika S Jakubowksa, Vuyo Giba, Tatiana Gorilovsky, Enid Farber and Kasia Ociepa.

Denys is an amazingly versatile musician and, although his roots are steeped in the jazz tradition, he incorporates ideas from other musical forms and popular culture, producing a repertoire which is contemporary, multi-layered and highly accessible. He is also an enormously talented composer/arranger, whose brilliant compositions have already earned him immense critical acclaim.

He is much sought after soloist and has played/recorded with some of the biggest names in jazz including McCoy Tyner, Andrew Hill, Bheki Mseleku, Marvin “Smitty” Smith, Courtney Pine, Steve Williamson, Julian Joseph and Jason Rebello!

Steel Pan Fusion

This contemporary Steel Pan group showcase the versatility of the Trinidadian instrument. Supremos of the pan Wade Austin and David Vine are supported by a number of fine musicians as they shift between traditional sounds and the shuffling beats of contemporary London." (Tom Short - The Musician, Journal of the Musicians Union) Steel Pan Fusion (SPF) is led by Trinidadian Born Wade Austin who is on a mission to bring Steel pan to the masses.

SPF has been around for a good decade, releasing their Debut album "Melting Pot" back in 2016. With a 2nd EP release in 2022 “Steel Pan Fusion”.

Featuring a group of musicians who are familiar faces on the UK/London live music scene for over 20 years.

Expect to be tapping your foot. Dancing to the infectious grooves. Funk, Soul, Afrobeat and Jazz fused with some traditional elements from Trinidad and the Caribbean.

Band leader Wade Austin and David Vine are virtuoso Steel Pan players that are pushing the boundaries of the instrument to new horizons.
