Event Description

See Bowes Park through fresh eyes on this guided tour with Discovering London's Pete Berthoud.

"This little area of North London is a total mystery to most Londoners and is certainly completely off the traditional tourist trail. Yet this bit of suburban London is packed with interest. A small and intrepid group of us will be exploring an area that few visitors ever have.

On our afternoon in Bowes Park we will see Ovi the dinosaur, view London's most interesting underpants, see part of The New River and a ramshackle "pop-up" church, look at some interesting late Victorian and Edwardian architecture, stop off for a drink in one the area's most interesting bars, explore Bowes Park's musical links and view the most disturbing window display in the entire city.

Most Londoners live in suburbs like Bowes Park, if you are a visitor and want to see "real London" this tour is for you. If you live in East, South or West London and want to spend afternoon getting to know a "new area" then I don't think Bowes Park will disappoint.

The tour starts near Bounds Green Tube, and ends near Wood Green Tube, full details given upon booking.

This tour lasts roughly 2.5 hours. We will finish in a typical local pub to debrief.

The tour is fully accessible but there are some kerbs and narrow pavements, please contact me if you want to talk in more detail about accessibility.

Book tickets here:

If you would rather pay cash on the day then that is absolutely fine.

You decide whether or not you qualify for any of the discounts. From experience, though, you can be very confident indeed that almost all your fellow walkers will be nice and interesting!"
