A walk from Holborn to the City, going off the beaten track to see some well known and not so well known features of this area of London. "Holborn to the City" (meet at Bounds Green station at 10.30am)
Dave Flett will lead us "off the beaten track" to show us some well known and not so well known features of this area of London, including, amongst other things......
A long abandoned tunnel.
A walk through the British Museum (and out the back door).
In the footsteps of Virginia Woolfe and the Bloomsbury Set.
Some Georgian shops
A secret graveyard.
A park which adults can only enter if accompanied by a child
The last refuge of Marxism in London
A city gate
Postman's Park with its memorials to 'ordinary' heroes and heroines
A relic of the Blitz
A bit of city wall
Various opportunities for food and drink (and toilets) en route
Estimated duration, including a lunch stop, approx 4 hours. (Being a city walk there will be plenty of transport options for those who do not wish to do the entire walk.)
Meet at Bounds Green station at 10.30am to take the Piccadilly Line to Holborn.
