The Enfield Society, Enfield Museum and Local Studies are joining forces for a day to commemorate the centenary of the First World War, and explore the role played by those living in the borough.
- Talk by Phillip Abbot of the Royal Armouries on the exciting rediscovery of the long-lost staff ledgers of the Royal Small Arms factory.
- Talk “Shirts, shells and poison gas” by Ian Jones, co-author of the book ‘Enfield at War: 1914-1918’.
- First World War re-enactors.
- Dramatic retelling of the Cuffley Airship crash.
- War poems written and read by Enfield Poets.
- ‘Enfield at War: 1914-1918’ museum exhibition, with the chance to handle and view items not normally on display.
- Refreshments and lunch included.
Tickets £13, booking necessary to secure a place.
