is Inside Job,
The HIC flyer says:
This film rips apart any idea that the banking crisis that started in 2008 and continued to this day was a “mistake” by stupid bankers. It exposes the greed, corruption and political involvement that resulted in the biggest financial collapse of our times with devastating consequences for millions.
You might think it’s a dry subject, but the film, narrated by Matt Damon, brings the subject to life with such force, accuracy and dark humour that it ranks as one of the most entertaining, as well as important, pictures of the year. Entertaining and important enought to win an Oscar for Best Documentary, in fact
It will leave you gasping with rage, as if your own savings had been sucked dry by the bankers and politicians, which isn’t too far from the truth. Rising tuition fees, increased VAT and the savage cuts in public spending are realities we all face, while those who caused the crisis not only go unpunished but made obscene wealth out of it.
One of the most damning conclusions is that many of the guilty parties are still in power, appointed, or re-appointed, to key financial roles by Obama – like US Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner – where they oppose crucial reforms.
The cry “never trust a politician” (or banker) has never been so true.
