Haringey Independent Cinema joins with Haringey Women's Forum and Haringey Disability First Consortium to put on the acclaimed film FRIDA about the life of artist Frida Kahlo.
A biography of artist Frida Kahlo, who channelled the pain of a crippling injury and her tempestuous marriage into her work. Taking care not to exploit Kahlo's suffering for audience sympathy, director Julie Taymor creates a film that brings Kahlo's paintings to life alongside honest, heartfelt performances from the actors.
The film chronicles the life Frida shared unflinchingly and openly with Diego Rivera, as the young couple took the art world by storm. From her complex and enduring relationship with her mentor and husband to her illicit and controversial affair with Leon Trotsky, to her provocative and romantic entanglements with women, Frida Kahlo lived a bold and uncompromising life as a political, artistic, and sexual revolutionary.
Doors open at 7pm and the film starts at 7:15
