Art Themen (tenor and soprano saxes), Alex Hutton (piano), Oli Hayhurst (bass), Stu Butterfield (drums)
Saxophonist and retired Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Art Themen, was a member of the Cambridge University band that also included Dick Heckstall-Smith, before becoming involved with the early London blues scene, along with Alexis Korner, Jack Bruce and Mick Jagger.
He fronted Stan Tracey's Quartet for 20 years from 1976. More recent projects include the "Three Tenors of Jazz" with Don Weller and Mornington Lockett.
Art has performed with numerous US and British luminaries and is known for his originality and individual style on both tenor and soprano saxophones.
Karamel is a unique vegan space in the heart of Wood Green’s Cultural Quarter and is the centre point of the Chocolate Factory studios, where you can enjoy good quality fresh, affordable and hearty breakfasts, and world food lunchtime buffets, inspired by our top chefs’ travels. Our highly acclaimed all day vegan Sunday roast has been going down a storm for over 3 years, and we have recently won the Time Out London 2018 Award for best restaurant in Wood Green.
Karamel is a vegan haven for arts, performances, music and food. By day we are a café/bar with local artist exhibitions, and by evening (Thu-Sat) we host eclectic and varied music and performances with a range of vegan food to match the evening.
We aim to satisfy the most critical beer drinker with our offering of a good range of quality and refreshing craft beers from local or micro-breweries on tap.
