As part of its annual EnviroMall campaign, from April 15th, The Mall Wood Green is offering all shoppers the opportunity to swap 10 plastic bags for a free bag for life.
Avoiding disposable plastic bags is one small act that can add up to huge environmental impact over time. Shockingly, around eight billion plastic bags are used in the UK each year, with every shopper using an average of 11 a month. (1) That's enough to fill nearly 200 Olympic sized swimming pools!
Michael Thompson, General Manager at The Mall Wood Green, commented: "We are holding this 'swap shop' as part of our ongoing campaign to do our bit for the environment. Plastic bag waste has a huge impact on our environment and if used four or more times, a bag for life will have a much lower carbon footprint than single-use carrier bags."
Shoppers that want to grab a free bag for life from the Mall Wood Green and do their bit for the environment can take 10 regular plastic carrier bags to THE ASK ME POINT, located in the Lower Mall, near Primark and Market Hall between Monday 15th April and Sunday 19th May 2013.
