An absorbing and fascinating place to visit, the 50 acres of Tottenham Cemetery is a peaceful haven to explore and an important record of the social history of the area.
Join your guide Deborah Hedgecock (Curator, Bruce Castle Museum & Archive) on this walking tour looking at the earliest grave markers and monuments from when the cemetery first opened in the mid-19th century. Here you can find tombs showing the Victorian’s interest in the culture of memorialisation, as well as a range of decorative styles carved in stone reflecting the social standing and importance of local families in their last resting place.
This tour will last 1.5 hours. This is a gentle walk, but do wear comfortable footwear.
Meet at the clocktower entrance of Bruce Castle Museum at 12 noon to start at 12.15pm.
