Event Description

Hi all,

The chill in the air says autumn is here - which means it’s time to start planning our We Love Myddleton Road events between now and Christmas.

At our next meeting on Tuesday 28 October we’re going to kick start two things to support the road over the next few months:

  • Another Cash Mob to support the businesses on the road – in mid/late November; and
  • A family-friendly celebration to mark the switching on of the Christmas Lights – in early December.

To make both a success we’ll need some volunteers to do a range of tasks like: designing posters, speaking to traders, putting up posters, or organising the celebrations on the day – whatever time you can give helps hugely.

So if you’d like to get involved then please come to our next meeting on Tuesday 28 October at 7.30pm in Mum’s Bistro on Myddleton Road.

Everyone is welcome. Or if you can't make it then email us to let us know what you can do.

At the meeting we’ll also discuss ideas to use to apply for up to £20,000 from the GLA’s new High Street Fund – details here – so any suggestions welcome. And we will talk through plans by the local councillors for improvements around the road and station.

On the road and in Bowes Park it’s worth knowing that:

  • Work has started on the shop front renovation on Myddleton Road. You may have spotted the scaffolding outside numbers 124-128 - details here.
  • The Great British Boogie Band is playing at a musical fundraiser for the renovation of the Shaftesbury Hall or Tin Tabernacle, next to Bowes Park station on Saturday 18 October. Once completed the hall will be a hugely important local resource – so do go along and support if you can.
  • The last Myddleton Road Market was a great success (follow them on Facebook here), the next one is 7 December, so put it in your diaries now.
  • The Bowes Park Community Association’s AGM was well attended – read a report here. They have done much to support WLMR and in particular we’d like to extend our thanks to Dee Kushlick-Williams, the out-going chair, for all her support and advice.

Thanks – and hopefully see you on 28 October.
