A Community Network for Bowes Park and Bounds Green
The Little Free Library works on a very simple principle: It’s “take a book, return a book”. Neighbours share their favorite books - anyone can stop by and pick up a book (or two) and bring back another to share. From today Bounds Green has its own Little Free Library, which was declared open in a ribbon cutting ceremony by Lily-Rose pictured above, with her mum, Lisa.
The Library is located outside No1 Warwick Road - at the corner of Tewkesbury Terrace - in a delightful purpose-designed little house. It's open all day every day; why not pop by and swap a book?
Little Free Library is charitable organisation, originated in the USA but now a worldwide phenomenon, Bounds Green LFL is number 22,1301 have a look at the website for the other locations.
The project promotes reading, art and community engagement, Little Free Libraries are not only a great way for communities to share stories, but are also individual public art installations. It's impossible to walk past the Little Free Library without stopping to have a look at the books - and to just enjoy the wonderful little house!
Thank You to Lily-Rose, Lisa and dad Josh for opening the Little Free Library. Are there other locations in Bounds Green or Bowes Park where we might have more?

This is a fantastic local facility. Thank you to the family who have opened the library. I have already borrowed a book and will return some very soon.
What a great initiative... I will pop by.
This week I discovered a second Little Free Library. This one, on Herbert Road, between Bowes Park Station and Bounds Green Tube is perfect for picking up and dropping off commuter reading: Take a book, return a book donate a book as you pass by.
Thanks to the library founders who have set it up in their front garden - and added to the fantastic community infrastructure in our neighbourhood.
It's already been a great source of books for me and I've given some back which have quickly disappeared too! Really great location!
Hi Zarina - and welcome!
The little free libraries are lovely aren't they?
Another place to donate/exchange books is the Book Swap Shelf in The Step on Myddleton Road (have a look at this link) they generate a little cash from the recycling of donated books - which is then donated to local community projects ... including this website!
If you haven't yet come across it you might also be interested in the Big Green Bookshop in Wood Green, an excellent local bookshop with an unrivaled sequence of events, author talks, comedy nights etc - well worth a visit.
