It is my understanding that a second car wash opposite the existing one at the junction of Bourne Hill and Hoppers Road in Palmers Green will open in the next few weeks.

The council has already installed a second dropped kerb to make this possible.

The car wash has no planning permission but Enfield council have told me that they are powerless to do anything about it until is starts to operate as a car wash and even then the owner can operate it for up to 28 days before the council can shut it down.

Imagine the traffic between Green Lanes and Hoppers Road when it opens.  It is bad enough as it is with the existing car wash.  Especially on sunny weekends.

It strikes me as odd that the council would install the dropped kerb when there is already a proposal to install a zebra crossing on the same stretch of Bourne Hill. The zebra crossing proposal has been on the table for over a year (two years?) but still no work has taken place.

What conclusions can we draw from all of this?
