A Community Network for Bowes Park and Bounds Green
This week The Big Green Bookshop, Wood Green, is launching the Patron of Reading: Haringey Chapter – a local literacy initiative – and Big Green Bookshop Education – a new social enterprise created with the support of bookshop customers.
The Patron of Reading: Haringey Chapter is a local branch of the national scheme which places authors and storytellers in schools to inspire reading for pleasure. The aim is to raise funds to help more schools work with these amazing authors.
Alongside this scheme is the launch of Big Green Bookshop Education CIC: a community interest company based at the Bookshop in Wood Green. Their purpose is to promote literacy and reading for pleasure, through working with local schools, libraries and other partners.
Big Green Bookshop Education CIC is a not-for-profit social enterprise, set up in April 2015 to enable the Bookshop to extend its role in the local community. Customers and supporters of the Big Green Bookshop have donated funds to set up the company and run its websites.
There are 3 main strands to this work:
The new initiative will be launched with an event at Wood Green Library next week. Read more information on the Big Green Bookshop Education website.
