Bobble Day "Age UK Enfield Fundraising Pack for Communities and Groups"

Age UK Enfield are taking part in the Nationwide Fundraising Event "Bobble Day" on Friday 7th February.  Each winter, thousands of older people struggle to stay warm and well or keep in touch with others.  With your help, thousands of older people could enjoy a warmer, happier and more sociable time during the coldest months.

Do something incredi-bobble for Age UK

Help older people in Enfield keep well and warm this winter

Age UK Enfield is getting behind Bobble Day, part of Age UK’s national Spread the Warmth campaign to help keep older people warm and well during the winter. Fortuna Mobility are among those who will be doing something incredi-bobble to raise money for Age UK Enfield’s Bobble Day, on the 7th February.

Whether you buy and wear one of Age UK Enfield’s bobble badges or get sponsored to do something incredi-bobble, you can help to warm up Britain this Bobble Day.  This winter 24,000 older people may not survive the cold weather – that’s 200 deaths a day that could be prevented[1].

Money raised from Bobble Day will go towards Age UK Enfield’s Spread the Warmth campaign.  Age UK and its local and national partners are working hard to help older people keep warm and well throughout the winter in a number of ways, including offering winter benefit checks through their Information, Advice and Advocacy and Handyperson services. They are providing hot nutritious meals their local Active Life Centre as well as home visits and friendly telephone calls through Enfield’s Befriending services for those who are isolated. Age UK nationally also offers information and advice 365 days a year and older people and their families can call Age UK Advice free on 0800 169 65 65.

Tony Seagroatt, Chief Executive of Age UK Enfield said: “We want everyone to do something incredi-bobble for Bobble Day this year.  You can help us to warm up Britain by wearing an Age UK Enfield bobble badge or organising a woolly swap with colleagues - whatever you do will help to raise vital funds for Bobble Day.  Please join us at Age UK Enfield and help make this a Bobble Day to remember.”

People can wear any orange woollen item they have to their school or workplace and donate £2 on Bobble Day, or they can buy a colourful orange mini bobble from your local Age UK  Enfield. If local businesses or schools would like to get involved, please contact Daniela Sanna at Age UK Enfield on 020 8375 4120 and sign up today!

Age UK is also urging older people and their friends and family to be prepared this winter and it’s also calling on MPs of all parties to support investment to boost the energy efficiency of older people’s homes and help them keep warm. The Charity is calling on people to help them spread the warmth this winter by joining its campaign to tell MPs about the need for warm homes or making a donation by calling 020 8375 4120, visiting www.spreadthewarmth.org.uk or donating £5 by texting WARMTH to 70004.
